Values and CultureA word about a Value SystemIt is easy for a company to set a value statement to guide its corporate behavior. It becomes difficult and requires immense discipline for everyone involved to live by this value system on a daily basis. Living by the value system must be demonstrated first and foremost by the CEO and the company’s senior managers. Real value can never be attained if the company does not anchor itself in a set of values that the company’s leaders demonstrate as meaningful and adhere to on a daily basis. Another word about CultureHow does a company go about making money? Is it all about the money, or is there something more that the company is striving for? The questions for a company are similar to those individuals ask themselves. Am I a better person if I work 14-hour days, neglect my family, and only worry about how much money I make? Or am I better off if I do the absolute best I can at work, but then tend to the really important things in life, such as spiritual growth, family commitment and friends. A company must answer similar questions. Is it going to make time in its daily corporate existence to tend to its Value Groups? Or is it only concerned about the money? The bedrock values a company lives by and the value it delivers to those that depend on it while achieving profitability define its Culture. When you meet an individual and spend time with him or her, you form an opinion based on the things he or she does and says and the way he or she treats other people. Members of the Value Groups do the same thing with a company. The company’s Culture is the way it goes about its daily life. Act on your thoughts and contact us today. Together we can transform those thoughts into powerful values and culture tomorrow.
